Research/Analysis
Analysing existing products.
Learn about why designers do analysis of existing products as part of the research process. They will also have to communicate how products be improved upon.
How to communicate design ideas effectively
The key focus of this module is to build upon skills learned earlier in the rotation. This is an opportunity for students to improve their presentation skills.
Design
An introduction to 3D modelling using TinkerCAD.
Students will be required to understand the key principles of modeling in 3D and explain why do designers choose to use this method. Students will then focus on the skills required to develop traditional presentation skills and then demonstrate their ability to draw on creative sources and use inspiration to design and manufacture a product.
Make
Making of the phone holder
Using the final 2D design work the phone holder will be cut using our in-house laser cutter. Traditional making skills will be undertaken by bending the acrylic using the plastic bending machine and the product completed by adding a wooden base.
