Year 7 students in Art & Design will work on 5 different projects during the academic year, exploring a wide range of artistic techniques.

Research

Students will research and create written work on the artists associated with the topic they are covering.

  • Folk Art Landscapes – Karla Gerard
  • Robots & 3D Structure – Chris Gilmour & Matt Brown
  • Collage Sunflowers – Vincent van Gogh
  • 2 other topics will be covered.

Design

As part of the creative development for these projects students will be required to collect a range of recycled materials for the project as well as images to use for design ideas. They will create artwork within sketchbooks to help develop ideas for the final artwork and they will explore the use of media and learn how to apply for the best results within the final artwork.

Make

Practical making of the Artwork

Students will learn a wide variety of artistic techniques such as Sgraffito, Collage, 3D structures, painting with Acrylic paints etc. They will complete the final product demonstrating knowledge and practical making skills.
