Term 1

  1. Sound and Video – Students will create a radio advert using sound editing software, which will then run along a video advert created in Adobe Premier Pro.
  2. Computing: Past, Present and Future – Students will develop presentation and word-processing skills in a look back at far we have come in the world of computing and considering where we might be in the future.

Term 2

  • Programming in Python: Sequence – Introduces students to writing code in Python including taking user inputs and storing them in variables,  calculating values and outputs.
  • Programming in Python: Selection – Programs must be able to make decisions based on inputs and respond appropriately to them. Students will use IF/ELSE/ELIF code  to execute selection.

Term 3

The Ethics of Computing – This unit gives students a chance to form opinions and develop arguments in wider ethical issues surround modern technologies, including moral, environmental and legal issues that can arise in this digital age.

Assessment

The department utilises two assessment methods:

  1. ‘Live marking’ in class – teacher monitors demonstrated skills and tracks in real time in Go4Schools mark book
  2. ‘Boost Learning’ interactive quizzes to carry out knowledge checks
