Joining us in Year 7
Applications for places at Darland are managed by Wrexham County Borough Council. You can find guidance and apply online through the Wrexham secondary admissions page.
If your child will be starting Year 7 in September 2027, please apply by 31 October 2026. Offers will be sent to families on 1 March 2027.
If you live in Flintshire, Denbighshire or Shropshire, please apply through your home local authority and include Darland among your school preferences.
Please apply on time to give your child the best opportunity of securing a place at your preferred school.
Moving to Darland from another school
Moving to the area or considering a change of school? We’d be happy to talk with you about joining Darland. We understand that moving schools can feel like a big change, and we want you and your child to feel informed and supported.
Please contact the school to arrange a visit, meet staff and discuss your child’s learning, interests and support needs. If your child is studying GCSE courses, this is also an opportunity to discuss their current subjects and the courses available at Darland.
Applications to move schools outside the usual Year 7 admissions round are known as in-year transfers. These are managed by Wrexham County Borough Council and are subject to available places and the council’s admissions policy. To request a transfer application form, email admissions@wrexham.gov.uk. You can also find advice on the council’s in-year transfers page.
If you are considering a move because of difficulties at your child’s current school, the council recommends discussing these with that school first. Your child should continue attending their current school until a new place has been confirmed and a start date agreed.
