All pupils in Years 7 – 11 are divided into form groups which are overseen in Year 7 by the Head of Year who is supported by the Assistant Head of Year and by their Pastoral Manager in Years 8-11.

All new pupils will find out which form group they will join on either Transition Day in July (Year 7), or on the first day of joining us if pupils join us ‘in year’. Every effort is made to ensure that pupils feel happy, safe and secure in their form group and form tutors will ensure that all pupils are well looked after and will help pupils to deal with day-to-day issues. The form tutor will be the first point of contact for all pupils in school and the Head of Year / Assistant Head of Year / Pastoral Manager will also be available to support pupils and parents.

Pupils will spend the first 15 minutes of every day in their form groups where they will complete our Personal, Social, Health and Education (PSHE) programme. We also have a weekly assembly programme to further support our pastoral curriculum.

Darland High School has high expectations of all pupils in all year groups. Excellent standards of punctuality, attendance, behaviour and uniform will be encouraged and rewarded throughout the year. We will expect pupils to do their best at all times and to enter into the life of the school, making the most of the full programme of extra-curricular opportunities that are on offer.
